PALIO, TOWERS AND TYPICAL WINES
Departure to Siena.
Visit of Piazza del Campo, the most beautiful medieval place of Tuscany, the Duomo, the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Palazzo Pubblico.
After a short lunch break, proceed to San Gimignano, the city of the towers that could still today preserve their medieval image. Taste of the local and famous white wine
“Vernaccia di San Gimignano”.
PIENZA AND IMPERIAL RED WINES
Through beautiful landscape, arrival at Pienza, named after the Pope Pius, who was born here in the year 1405. Visit the Palazzo Piccolomini and the Cathedral.
Then visit of Montepulciano: known for the famous wine “vino Nobile”. The Cathedral and the palaces of the Renaissance are very impressive.
Visit to the small wine village Montalcino, best known for the flavour “Brunello” wine. In the late afternoon return to Chianciano Terme.
UMBRIA
Visit to Umbria Region (called also the “green heart” of Italy).
In the morning, visit of Assisi: birthplace of St. Francis the Basilica of S. Francesco, the Church including S.Chiara and the Church of S. Maria degli Angeli.
Then visit of Perugia, capital of this region and famous for its University. Visit of the medieval old town: Palazzo dei Priori (Town Hall square), the Cathedral and Rocca Paolina, a Renaissance fortress.
